SUPPORT
There is no support vehicle, no feed stations, no route markers. You carry what you need, buy what you can find, and sleep where you choose. Ride it in one push or take three days over it. It’s your challenge, you decide.
It will not be easy. That is the point.
The route strings together what most visitors never see: sunken lanes cut ten feet into the red earth, old, military tracks across open moor, wooded river valleys, cliff-top bridleways that have carried traffic since before the Normans.
Dartmoor is the centrepiece. Nearly 368 square miles of high moorland, granite tors and fast, rough descents. You will climb into it, drop off it, and climb back on again. The gradients here do not read like much on paper. Your legs will tell you otherwise.
Nothing on this route tops 1,500 feet. Do not let that fool you. Devon does not do flat. It does relentless. 27,887 feet of climbing in 280 miles, most of it in short, brutally steep ramps. More climbing per mile than almost any ultra in the UK.

Room to ride fast or steady
Self-supported means exactly that. No pre-arranged help, no support vehicles, no stashed supplies. Anything you use must be available to every rider: shops, cafes, pubs, taps, and the kindness of strangers, which Devon has in unusual quantities.
Rule 01
RIDE YOUR OWN RIDE
No drafting outside your pair, no outside assistance.
RIDE YOUR OWN RIDE
No drafting outside your pair, no outside assistance.
Rule 02
LEAVE NO TRACE
The route crosses a national park, two protected landscapes and a lot of working farmland. We are guests everywhere we go.

- WHO IT’S FOR
YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE FAST.
YOU NEED TO BE PREPARED
Riders will finish in under 24 hours and riders will finish in three days, and both will have achieved the same challenge.
If you have ridden a long Audax, an overnight bikepacking trip or a hard hilly 200, and you are willing to train, this is within reach.
If you have ridden a long Audax, an overnight bikepacking trip or a hard hilly 200, and you are willing to train, this is within reach.
If this is your first Ultra, Devon is a good place for it. You are never far from a villiage, a shop or a train line. The consequences of a bad day here are a long walk and a bruised ego, not a mountain rescue.
