Privacy Notice
Last updated: 02/09/2026
This notice explains what personal data Devon Divide collects, why we collect it, and what your rights are. We keep it short and plain because that is how we would want it explained to us.
Who we are.
Devon Divide is a self-supported gravel cycling event. For data protection purposes, the data controller is Flaming Rotor Ltd, 32 Fish Street, Exeter, company number 17379397.
If you have any questions about your data, or you want to make a request or a complaint, email us at mark@devondivide.com and we will get back to you as son as possible.
The data we collect, and why.
We collect personal data in two situations:
When you join our mailing list. We collect your email address, and nothing else. We use it to tell you when entries open and to send occasional news about the event. Our legal basis for this is your consent, which you give by signing up. You can withdraw it at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email we send.
When you enter the event. We collect your name, contact details, date of birth, emergency contact, and any dietary or medical information you choose to share. We use this to register you, run the event safely, and reach you or your emergency contact if we need to. Our legal basis for this is the contract between us when you enter. Where you share medical or dietary information, we rely on your explicit consent and we use it only to keep you safe during the ride.
We only ask for what we actually need. You do not have to give us medical information, but it helps us look after you on a remote, self-supported route.
Who handles your data for us.
We use two trusted providers to run the event. They act on our instructions and are bound to protect your data.
Kit stores our mailing list and sends our emails. Kit is based in the US.
SiEntries handles event entries and takes your entry payment. Your card details go straight to SiEntries and their payment providers. We never see or store your card number.
We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with anyone else unless the law requires us to.
How long we keep it.
We keep your email on the mailing list until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove you. We keep entry records for two years after the event, so we can deal with any queries, then we delete them. Medical information is deleted sooner, once the event is over and there is no reason to keep it.
Your rights.
You can ask us to show you the data we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. You can unsubscribe from emails at any time. You can also object to how we use your data or ask us to limit it. Email mark@devondivide.com and we will sort it.
If you are not happy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to us first at mark@devondivide.com. We will acknowledge your complaint within 30 days and do our best to put things right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK regulator, at ico.org.uk.
Changes to this notice.
If we change how we handle data, we will update this page and change the date at the top.
